You have a great new website. Now, how can you get everyone to go to it?

Keep in mind your audience - most visitors are going to be prospective and current members of your organization. If there are 200 member families in your local synagogue, don't expect 5000 visits a month.  If you're a larger regional or national organization, 5000 visits a month may be easy to reach.

Teenagers and the Synagogue

In many congregations, teenagers drift away. Once the Bar or Bat Mitzvah is done, there is a feeling of ‘mission accomplished.’ The big party is over, the Torah portion has been read. Hebrew school and/or layning lessons are complete.

The synagogue website is the public face of the congregation. On the one hand, you want to encourage members to contribute content and to be active on the site. On the other hand, there may be certain guidelines you want everyone to respect. Naturally, the guidelines may differ, depending on your hashkafa (religious philosophy or outlook).

You don’t have to write new articles every day to keep a website interesting. One of the ways you can make sure you always have fresh content is to display RSS feeds. RSS - sometimes called Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary - is an XML-based system for collecting information from blogs, news and current event Web sites, and other Web sites that update content frequently.
