| Creating an Online Class |

How can you use your synagogue website to create an
interactive class?
Create a forum for the class. You can decide if you want to
limit forum access to registered class members or to all synagogue members.
Each topic for discussion should be a separate thread. Start by posting the
question(s) of the week - and have your students respond. If you want to add
more structure, ask each class member to contribute at least X number of posts
per week.
If you meet regularly - record your classes and provide them
as podcasts on the synagogue website. Again, you can make this accessible to
class members only or to all synagogue members. If it’s a lecture - you will
probably want to make it accessible to everyone. If it’s an internal class
discussion, you may want to limit access so your students can talk freely.
If you have handouts, essays, or e-books - provide them for
download. You can also provide a place for students to upload assignments
directly on the website.
Don’t forget the wide variety of educational material out
there on other sites. The Talmud Daf Yomi, for example, is available at
http://www.e-daf.com, without any Hebrew fonts required.
