You don’t have to write new articles every day to keep a
website interesting. One of the ways you can make sure you always have fresh
content is to display RSS feeds. RSS - sometimes called Really Simple
Syndication or Rich Site Summary - is an XML-based system for collecting
information from blogs, news and current event Web sites, and other Web sites
that update content frequently.
To display the Jerusalem Post ‘Jewish World’
news feed on
your website, for example, you would go enter the url
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/Page/RSS&cid=1123495333468
into your RSS display module. If you are using a ShofarSites package -
you log
into the back end of your website and go to the Jewish News module, and
paste
the url into the box that says ‘Feed URL’.
You can have multiple feeds from multiple sites - Haaretz, for example, has a
Jewish news feed at
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/objects/pages/ejewishworldRss.jhtml.
The result: the front page of your website has the latest
headlines from the Jewish world, updated automatically, with no effort on your
part.
