Inserting Links

Links - to create a link to another page on your website or to an external site - enter the text that you want to serve as a link and highlight it. You then click on the insert/edit link icon (it looks like a link of a chain with a green circle). A new window will pop up.

For a link to an external site, such as http://www.nytimes.com - enter the full url into the url field and click insert at the bottom.

For a link to an email address (that will launch the user's email client such as Outlook), enter an email address into the address field. The subject field is optional.

For a link to an internal page of your website, click on 'select link type' in the content area. In most cases, you will want to choose 'article'. You will then have the option to find an article by going through the sections and categories. Once you have selected the final article, click insert.

For a link to a docman document (see Uploading and Managing Documents for more information about docman), do not click on the link icon. Instead, click on 'doclink' beneath the main editing box of the article. A separate window will open that allows you to select an individual document to link to.

To remove a link from an article, highlight the text or picture that serves as the link, and click on the broken chain link icon.
