Temple Kol Tikvah, a Reform congregation in Woodland Hills, CA, decided it was time for a new website. For the design, they wanted to incorporate their new logo and a stained glass image from the synagogue interior. Visit their new site at http://www.koltikvah.org

Temple Israel of Greenfield, a Conservative synagogue in Western Massachusetts, first put up their website in 2002. The internet and web technology progressed, but the synagogue website remained stuck in the past. The site had a colored patterned background, and the site content could only be updated by one person, the congregation’s secretary. In 2008, Temple Israel decided it was time for an upgrade, and began to work with ShofarSites. They wanted an updated design and new ways to share information. And the new site had to be easy to use and easy to update.

The New Site:

For the design, Temple Israel of Greenfield used a synagogue template from the ShofarSites collection, and had it customized with the Temple’s own Star of David logo. For user features, they chose an event calendar, music downloads, forum, photo gallery, Rabbi’s blog, and Jewish news feeds.  The picture gallery was the perfect solution for posting pictures from the congregation’s recent trip to Israel. Rabbi Efraim Eisen, a noted musician, provided two cds of his music for streaming and downloading. Behind the scenes, the responsibility for updating the website is now shared.
